The String Transport Project is engaged in the development of modern infrastructure, which includes not only rolling stock and tracks, but also environmentally friendly residential development. A prime example of that is the EcoHouse.
The EcoHouse is designed as part of a linear city: cluster settlements that are linked by string tracks. One of the mock-ups of such a city has been installed in the Testing Centre in Sharjah.
The main feature of the EcoHouse is its autonomy. The building provides residents not only with electricity and heat, but also with food. For this purpose, there is a greenhouse on the roof where vegetables and fruit can be grown all year round using fertile soil.
The EcoHouse project has already been implemented at the Testing Centre in Sharjah and serves as the headquarters for the company, which is developing the string transport in the Middle East. The building is constructed almost entirely from wood. It is the most environmentally friendly and economical material compared to concrete and bricks. The property complies with all fire safety standards.
Despite Sharjah's hot climate, in the courtyard of the EcoHouse, there is being developed an abundant ecosystem of flowering gardens, a pond, beehives and birds' nests. All that creates an oasis-like atmosphere in the middle of the desert.
