There is required modern equipment for production of string transport components. That's why the project actively cooperates with Haas (USA) and Okuma (Japan) companies, which supply high-tech CNC machining centres (computer control system) for SkyWay.
In this article, we will explain what makes Haas and Okuma equipment unique, why these companies have become leaders in their field, and how their products help SkyWay today.
Okuma
Okuma Corporation is the Japanese machine tool manufacturer headquartered in Oguchi Cho City, Aichi Prefecture. The company supplies the international market with CNC machine tools.
In the past, most companies received machine control programs from several companies, such as Fanuc, Mitsubishi Electric, Siemens and Heidenhain. In recent years, several large international companies have developed their unique CNC control systems, including Mazak and the American company Haas.
Okuma also uses and delivers a completely unique machine control program. This is part of «Single Source» philosophy. Okuma designs, assembles and supplies equipment, software and machine tools without having to rely on large contractors.
At present, the company employs more than 3500 people. The company assets for 2019 amount to $2,2 billion. In 2019, 42.7% of Okuma sales went to Japan, 26.4% to the USA, 14.2% to Europe, 16.7% to Asia.
Have a look at how Okuma works and how it can benefit SkyWay.
In 2019 and 2020, Okuma supplied CNC machining equipment for processing and manufacturing of the string vehicles complex parts for SkyWay. Today, two Okuma machines are used in the production of SkyWay.
– Vertical 5-axis machining centre of GENOS M460V –5AX model
(It's price is from $ 280 000)
The machine is designed for manufacturing and processing complex parts from sturdy materials such as engine housings or hydraulic blocks. High temperature resistance and robust dual column design of the machine helps it to works with sturdy materials
– OKUMA MULTUS B 200 II CNC Lathe machine (It's price is from $ 180 000)
The machine produces the most complex parts for the SkyWay transport in accordance with a given 3D model in automatic mode. This is the second machine of this kind in Belarus. The first one is used at the enterprise of military industry.

Haas Automation
Haas Automation Inc. is an American machine tool company based in Oxnard, California.
Haas Automation is the largest U.S. machine tool company producing all kinds of vertical and horizontal CNC machining centres (computer control system), CNC lathes and rotary devices.
Based on production volumes, Haas Automation is one of the largest machine tool manufacturers in the world. Haas machines are used in the automobile, aerospace, defense, and aviation industries.
SkyWay has purchased several Haas machines for the production of string transport, such as
– Haas ST-30Y turret machining centre.
(Its cost in 2020 is from $125 000).
– Haas UMC-750SS five-axis vertical milling centre.
(The cost of the machine in 2020 is from $200,000).
Machines like these are necessary for creating and processing string transport parts. They allow the SkyWay company-developer to produce parts for transport modules on its own, without contractors, reducing the cost and production time of the transport.
