The Dubai's Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has aligned its strategic transport infrastructure development plan according to the «Eight Management Principles» – a large-scale roadmap, presented in early January by the Vice President, Prime Minister of the United Arab Emirates and the ruler of Dubai, Sheikh Mohammad bin Rashid Al Maktoum.

In terms of strategic development, the Sheikhspeaks about the basic principles of building a state in the UAE for the coming years. Among them, there is focus on business development and talent support, stimulation the diversity of industries and care for future generations.

General Manager and Chairman of the Executive Board of RTA Mattar Al Tayernoted that the Dubai's Road and Transport Authority would act in accordance with the stated strategy:

«This step is necessary to keep up with the ambitions of our leaders in using government resources to serve the society and ensure the sustainable well-being of future generations.»

In his speech at the ceremony, dedicated to the 12th anniversary of the RTA, Al-Tayer spoke about the volume of investment in infrastructure in 2019:

The Dubai Government allocated 19% of its budget to RTA in 2019. This clearly reflects the continued support of the government of Dubai aimed at the sustainable development and construction of infrastructure projects necessary to improve the competitiveness of the city.

He also spoke about some plans of the department for the near future:

«This year, RTA will continue to implement several strategic projects in support of Dubai’s development plans. The ongoing projects are a part of the program «Route 2020» on the continuation of the Dubai Metro's red line to the Expo 2020 site, as well as road projects in the vicinity of the Expo&lquo;.

Mattar Al Tayer noted that RTA planned to introduce several innovative transport projects in the near future, including SkyWay string transport, which is now known in the UAE as the Dubai Sky Pods. Thus, even before practical implementation in the infrastructure of the emirate, the string transport is included in the number of urban public transport types and will exist along with Dubai Metro, Dubai Taxi, Dubai Bus, Dubai Tram and Dubai Marine.

«Among the world's innovative projects that are currently being considered in the RTA, there are Dubai Sky Pods: highly efficient futuristic autonomous transport system, which requires much less infrastructure than conventional, traditional transport systems. Future projects also include an autonomous air taxi that is being developed by a large global company, and autonomous transit capsules. RTA is working with global laboratories to test innovative transportation systems to meet the challenges of the first and last mile.

Let us remind you that in early December 2018, the SkyWay technology was introduced to Dubai Crown Prince Sheikh Hamdan ibn Mohammed Al Maktoum. He was impressed by the new type of transport and wrote about thatin his Twitter.

Dubai thinks out-of-the-box… It is taking bold steps with the aim of kick-starting a revolution in transportation by undertaking new projects such as the Dubai Sky pods, a futuristic mobility system that requires one tenth the infrastructure of conventional transit systemspic.twitter.com/0gm5PkjthZ
