The lifting of the 2+ km long linear structure was carried out on the fourth test track, which is located at the uSky Test and Certification Centre in Sharjah. This was the completion of the stage for track structure construction in Transport Infrastructure Complex No. 4.
The lifting of the monolithic structure is unique since similar work has not been carried out anywhere else in the world. The length of the flyover is more than two and a half kilometres, including a non-tensioned section which will allow the rolling stock to start from ground level. The experience of lifting a track structure rail of this length will make it possible to organize passenger and freight transportation at speeds of up to 150 km/h.
The heavy duty string-rail flyover is designed to move rolling stock weighing up to 60 tonnes. This will enable the 25-capacity Unibus and container ship Unicont with the capacity of up to 25 tonnes to reach high speeds.
You may remembeer, the first stage of certification of test track No. 4 was completed at the end of 2022. TUV SW Standardization Certifications, an international independent organization, has carried out a comprehensive assessment of steel structures in accordance with the international standards AWS and BS EN. A certificate confirming the safety of the intermediate supports was obtained.
Ahead — the second stage of certification, during which the entire test track will be assessed. Based on the results of the inspection, the approximately 2.5 km long string-rail flyover will be ready to operate heavy freight and passenger rolling stock at speeds of up to 150 km/h.
